Westminster Adult Education Service (WAES) recently judged by Ofsted Inspection as “officially good and on our way to outstanding” is the largest local authority adult education service in London and one of the largest in the country. We offer a large and diverse programme of further education qualification courses and employer-based training as well as extensive community based provision. We have a diverse, enthusiastic student community, taught and supported by well qualified, dedicated staff. Our three main centers in Westminster are all modern, easily accessible and purpose built, offering high quality teaching and learning facilities.
To ensure the highest levels of efficient and effective customer management and ensure a high quality learning experience for every learner and their successful outcome we are seeking to fill this temporary position Administrative Assistant who will support the team by providing a central point of contact for learners, markers/tutors, moderators, data entry into EBS and other systems, providing support to the quality process and organising daily activities.
You will also play a key role in ensuring that actions from learners and tutors are followed up on, as well as various other ad-hoc administrative tasks in support of the distance learning team.
You’ll be an experienced administrator with a positive, personable and professional telephone manner. You’re highly effective at building relationships both with clients and internally within the organisation. You are renowned for your organisational skills and thrive on the challenge of handling multiple tasks for multiple stakeholders at once.
You’ll know when we say ‘team player’ we don’t mean someone who lacks independence, we mean someone capable of adapting to the needs of multiple teams several times a day.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Prior knowledge of using EBS a benefit but not a requirement as training will be provided
- Proven administrative experience, including extensive contact with customers
- A natural planner and organiser
- Thrives in a busy environment
- An eager and fast learner able to quickly assimilate the knowledge required to be able to navigate technical jargon (prior technical knowledge not required)
- Excellent communication skills and ability to quickly build rapport with clients and colleagues
- Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office
- Good English literacy and numeracy skills
