More about the role:

We are currently looking for two Business Support Officer’s to support our Corporate Parenting Service, one post is in the Court and Permanency Team and one in the Fostering Service.  You will work with the social workers and management team to support our Looked After Children, in a busy and pressurised team. The business support officer plays a key role in supporting the Service to ensure it supports and safeguards vulnerable children keeping them safe from abuse.  They are also key in supporting social workers in providing great services to children and families and contribute to improved wellbeing in Central Bedfordshire Council.  In this role the successful candidate will help to ensure that children in Central Bedfordshire are meeting their full potential, have the best start in life and are safe and supported and achieve their best outcomes.

In this role you will be managing post, emails and telephone enquiries from colleagues and customers, you are the first point of contact for calls. Your role will include being able to signpost appropriately, scan documents, file and archive of documents internally and using the off-site storage facilities, undertaking or organising photocopying and printing. 

The successful candidate will organise and co-ordinate meetings, seminars, workshops etc. internally and externally. You will also be required to sending out agendas, write minutes, correspondences and other supporting documentation to families and professionals.

In this role you will manage an inbox, run reports and update databases to keep them up to date with new contact details and significant events received from outside agencies. You will assist in the assigning of work and ensure tasks are completed correctly. You will be required to communicate with internal and external colleagues and interested parties.  Using resources available i.e. internet, systems, colleagues to produce research on requested topics to agreed deadlines.

The successful candidate will hold a word processing qualification at Level 2, have an NVQ in Business Administration and GCSE’s in Literacy and Numeracy or equivalent qualifications. Excellent interpersonal communications skills, both verbal and written are a must, alongside strong time management and a task focused attitude. You will have experience producing statistical data, reports, letter and forms using Microsoft packages.
