The department has agreed some significant changes in the way it delivers its business support services and is committed to the continued delivery of high quality business support services whilst achieving substantial efficiencies and reductions in associated costs.
As a member of departmental management team the successful applicant will play a key role in developing the departmental business support strategy to best meet the needs of the service and support the department’s ongoing improvement journey and ambition to become outstanding.
We are looking for a flexible, resilient, experienced and innovative business support professional who can:
- Provide effective and efficient business support services to a wide range of in-house children’s services, partner organisations and key stakeholders and members of the community in a challenging service environment and a difficult financial climate;
- Build consensus and establish and maintain effective relationships with the services supported;
- Lead by example and create a highly motivated, effective and committed business support workforce with an inherent “can do” culture, that can attain high productivity and meet agreed performance measures;
- Maintain a sound knowledge and awareness of professional business support practice, current thinking, systems and technologies and to utilise these in continuously improving the quality, productivity, responsiveness and effectiveness of the CYPS business support function.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
This is a new post created as part of a review of departmental business support services, to conclude development, implementation and delivery of a revised business support offer across the department.
As part of a new leadership team you will strongly influence the future design of the business support service to meet changing service demands and delivery arrangements, create and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders and partner organisations through collaborative working, establish an effective business support model and ensure delivery of high quality, cost effective and efficient services.
ABOUT THE CHALLENGE
The post holder will assume an overview of the delivery of all business support services across the department and is specifically tasked with reviewing the business support resources involved in the delivery of those service functions falling outside of the direct effect of the recent review proposals. It will be important to establish high productivity levels whilst maintaining a high quality of work.

Are committed to the challenge, are resilient and can see the wider contribution they can make to the delivery of effective services for the young people of Rotherham;
Can think strategically but are also practical problem-solvers;
Can think on their feet, and be agile enough to step in quickly when they need to
Can prioritise, set the pace and sometimes make tough decisions
Are passionate about business support activity and seeking continuous improvement in how they are delivered;
Are enlightened, flexible and open to new ways of doing things.
