Senior Legal Assistant – Licensing & Litigation
Permanent Part-time: 18 hours per week, (Working days can be flexible but must include Wednesday)
Sefton Council’s Corporate Legal Services is comprised of three legal teams with administrative support. The Planning, Property and Prosecutions Team provide legal services primarily in relation to planning, highways, environmental, licensing, property, prosecutions and general litigation.
The Team comprises of a Senior Lawyer, 3 Lawyers, 2 Senior Legal Assistants and a Trainee Solicitor and we wish to recruit to the Senior Legal Assistant post.
The post holder will carry a caseload of litigation cases and provide legal advice and support to client departments in relation to the Council’s Selective Licensing Scheme with minimal supervision, including attending the Magistrates’ Court and undertaking advocacy where appropriate. They may also support the lawyers in the team on more complex cases and assist in the training of the trainee solicitor.
The successful candidate will hold a legal qualification such as ILEX or law degree and / or experience of working in a legal practice.
