We are looking for Social Workers like you who have completed their Assisted Year in Employment and are looking for their next challenge to develop their careers.
Our safeguarding teams work with children and families whose needs are complex or significant and result in intervention to prevent risk of harm. They build up a family’s strengths to bring about change; supporting children so they can stay with their families wherever possible. The team helps the family provide good and safe parenting, firm boundaries and emotional warmth.
As one of our social workers, accredited to undertake child protection, you will work cohesively with your colleagues and other agencies in promoting relationship based practice to protect the welfare of the City’s most vulnerable children and young people. You must be able to understand, undertake and articulate comprehensive and analytical assessments; whilst working from a strength based model approach.
You will also receive support and timely advice from our more experienced members of our teams; who will help and coach you through some of your more complex or significant cases, thus developing your understanding and expertise.
Your understanding of the public law outline coupled with your ability to support and challenge change autonomously will be paramount in this role.
Your ability to put the wellbeing and safety of the child at the forefront of all that you do enables you to ensure their needs, wishes and feelings inform your decisions just as much as legislative guidance would do.
You must be a qualified social worker registered with the Health Care Professional Council, to apply for this role.
If you have three years or more practice experience, you may be eligible for an Incentive Payment of £3,000. Stay with us for 27 months or more then you will qualify for a retention payment of £2,400 per year.
If you are relocating from outside Birmingham City's boundaries, we may be able to assist you with your move with one of our lucrative relocation packages.
