Tower Hamlets willsee the most significant increase in population and jobs in the country overthe next two decades. In a borough that is growing and changing so quickly, aplanned and coordinated approach to delivering the right type of housing,infrastructure and place-making is vital. To this end, the Council has anambitious affordable housing and capital delivery programme and are planningfor more health facilities, increasing primary and secondary school places andimproving green spaces, transport connections, community facilities and otherelements of the borough’s infrastructure.
The role is offered on a Fixed Term Contract basis for 2 years, with the possibility of an extension.Youwill be asked to project manage any number of large and/or high profileinfrastructure projects/programmes, some with large budgets (£5m plus), havinglimited interaction with managers, responding quickly to changed circumstancesand balancing often conflicting priorities under pressure, ensuring that allwork is undertaken in accordance with statutory requirements, the Council’spolicies and procedures and to the best professional standards. One of the key projects that you will project manage is South DockBridge. Subject to the necessary approvals and consultation processes, thebridge will provide a fully accessible link to South Quay with Canary Wharf andits new Elizabeth and Jubilee Line Stations. It will unlock the delivery of newhousing and commercial development on the Isle of Dogs, and improve access to 100,000new jobs, retail and other town centre services at Canary Wharf.
