This role supports the ambitions of Central Bedfordshire Council through the promotion of collaborative and integrated working, ensuring that children and families receive a good service when they need it. This is an exciting opportunity to join Central Bedfordshire’s SEND Service for a project promoting early intervention and inclusion in mainstream schools. The role will enable schools to identify, target and support children and young people with underlying speech, language and communication needs. This is a specific project for one year that will involve working with a range of partners and professionals to create a sustainable program / resource to improve outcomes for children and young people across the primary and secondary phases of education. This is a unique and diverse role involving training, networking, multi-agency working requiring an innovative and creative approach.
To take on this role, you must be a qualified speech and language therapist with experience of working with school aged children with an interest in inclusive, universal practice. This project will form part of a wider local authority initiative focusing on early intervention in mainstream schools, meaning that you will form part of a team of professionals including specialist teachers, school staff, SEND officers, educational psychologists and early years specialists. You will be an effective communicator with a solution-focused approach, able to form relationships easily with families, partners and professionals with an enthusiastic and energetic approach to their work.
