About Croydon

Croydon hasn’t seen expansion like we are currently experiencing since the 1960s. We’re already well underway with some £5bn of investment that will be completed over the next few years. New offices, new retail, and new homes will provide well-paid jobs and high-quality accommodation for our rapidly growing population.

Croydon is a naturally ambitious council – so we’re looking for inspirational leaders who share our passion for supporting business growth and responding to local needs.

Strong partnerships are the foundation for the future. That’s why we’re constantly looking forward. We need to find creative new ways of working together with other agencies and the private sector to deal with the financial challenges ahead.

Because with growth comes increased demand – but also huge opportunity.

Chances like this only come along once in a generation, and our task, and maybe yours, is to shape a positive future for Croydon’s residents and businesses alike.

About the Role

We are looking for a dynamic, forward thinking and innovative resilience professional to coordinate and shape the provision of emergency and business continuity management within Croydon Council and to the borough more widely.
You will deliver a programme which will develop and maximise our current arrangements and lead the programme for ensuring the Council, its partners and community remain resilient.

The post holder will ensure that the London local authority assurance framework relating to emergency planning is implemented within the Council and with response partners, including training and exercising, ensuring the authority meets the duties of the Civil Contingencies Act 2004.

Assessing risk and implementing appropriate plans and arrangements, this key position will also be fundamental in the Council’s response to emergency situations such as flooding, large fires and civil disturbance.

The post holder will also have a good understanding of ISO22301 relating to business continuity management and have experience in delivering business continuity programmes.

The post holder will be responsible for providing advice on the ethos of emergency management and identifying opportunities to develop resilience within the authority and the local community.

As part of the Resilience Team, the post-holder will also be part of the out of hours Duty Resilience on-call rota.
