Scrutiny & Policy Officer
Starting salary c. £32,900-38,700 p.a. - plus performance-related annual bonus
(on a range rising to £44,500 p.a. plus bonus)
We are looking to appoint a Scrutiny Officer, both to enhance the support we provide to our scrutiny councillors as they hold the executive to account and to contribute to the development of policy by investigating issues of local concern.
Working as part of a small team within Governance Services, you will provide consistently high quality policy and research support to the Council’s Scrutiny Committees and working groups. You will be able to analyse quantitative and qualitative evidence and present your findings in a well-structured way with concise findings. An instinctively good communicator, you will have excellent written and oral communication skills.
The role will involve project management work in partnership with multiple stakeholders to achieve milestones and deliver outputs that will help make a difference to Council services and to our residents.
Skilled at relationship management, you will work and build productive links with elected Councillors, senior officers and external stakeholders. This will also include giving clear advice on complex issues and demonstrating a high degree of political awareness.
The job is based at Kensington Town Hall where we work in bright open-plan offices with excellent facilities. Flexible working is encouraged. The role will involve attendance some evening meetings.
For an informal chat about the role, please contact Jacqui Hird, Scrutiny Manager, on 020 7361 2634.
The closing date for the receipt of applications is Sunday 25th November 2018 and interviews will take place on 6th December 2018. The interview will include a short presentation and/or a written test.
