Islington’s Children’s Social Care is developing practice to help vulnerable children, young people and their families make meaningful and sustainable change in their lives. We are working to transform the way we offer help by using Motivational Social Work (MSW) as a foundational approach to practice, which is grounded in Motivational Interviewing (MI) principles. This means we are working more purposefully and collaboratively with our service users to help them be safe and achieve their goals.
Islington Children’s Social Care are recruiting a full time Fixed Term Team Manager within the Children’s Service Contact Team.
The Children’s Service Contact Team is Islington’s single point of contact for all new referrals for both Children’s Social Care and the various Targeted Services. It is integral to Islington’s Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) and some MASH partners are co-located with the team.
The Children’s Services Contact Team is required to deliver high quality responses to incoming contacts within the required timescales with the aim of achieving ‘right service first time’ for children and families. As a Team Manager, you will be taking a lead in establishing effective working relationships with key partners, which are supportive and appropriately challenging. You will be responsible for ensuring the team are making evidence-based threshold decisions in line with the Islington Threshold Document and Pan-London Child Protection Procedures, as well as other relevant guidance, legislation and research. You will need to have a good working knowledge of making threshold and safeguarding decisions. We expect the post holder to be able to have a good understanding of early help and affective early interventions and partnership working.
Within CSCT, you will have the support of two Deputy Team Managers, and a team of experienced social workers and Referral Officers.
You will need good management experience and you will need to have recognised experienced of supervising social workers and working within referral and assessment provisions. You will be expected to quality assure the practice across CSCT, using regular audits and performance data.
You will be accustomed to employing social work principles such as dignity, respect, empathy and strength based collaborative approach to service delivery.
