Medway Children’s Safeguarding Service provides several opportunities for Social Work students to undertake their student placements through the Student Unit Executive of the Medway Social Work Academy. This includes providing final (100 day) placements in Safeguarding teams and second year (70 day) placements in local partner organisations under the Student Social Workers in Schools (SSWIS) programme. The role of Student Supervisor co-ordinates the placement of students in conjunction with the Student Unit Executive, acts as Practice Educator for students on the SSWIS programme (maximum of 10), runs regular Action Learning Sets for all students in Medway (Children and Adults) and represents Medway on some Task and Finish Groups on the Kent and Medway Teaching Partnership.
