A fantastic opportunity has arisen for the right person to join the Council’s Finance & Audit team as a Corporate Debt Recovery Manager. If you are somebody who has diplomacy and confidence in dealing with vulnerable, distressed and difficult customers and if you have a desire to be proactive and innovative in identifying ways to treat customers fairly whilst maximising income across the Council then, this might just be the role for you.
Amongst other duties you will be expected to manage a team of officers who are actively managing and pursuing unpaid Council Tax, Business Rates and Sundry Debtor income as well as providing advice on complex issues. You will lead on maintaining the Council’s Corporate Collection & Recovery policy and provide support to other debt collection teams across the Council. You will also be required to represent the Council at the Magistrates Court and in other legislative processes.
Ideally we are looking for somebody with a relevant professional qualification such as IRRV (Institute of Revenues Rating and Valiation) or CICM (Chartered Institue of Credit Management) or alternatively at least 5 years’ experience in a debt collection and recovery role.
You will need a high degree of numeracy and excellent ICT skills. A working knowledge of Northgate, Information at Work, eFinancials, IDIS and Money claims online would be beneficial but are not essential.
Excellent inter-personal, literacy and verbal communication skills will be vital for dealing with and imparting knowledge and advice to our customers.
