Do you have excellent analytical and problem solving skills? Do you have an inquisitive mind and like to find out how processes work and help make them the best that they can be? Do you like variety in the work you do and the people you work with? If the answer is yes then a career as a Finance Apprentice within Internal Audit might be just right for you.
Fareham Borough Council is offering a fantastic opportunity for the right person to join its Internal Audit team. You will assist the team in the delivery of their service (which includes carrying out internal audit reviews and testing of processes, analysing governance arrangements, risks and controls; and investigating fraud and irregularities) providing both written and verbal feedback to Managers. You will also be assisting the Operational Finance and Accountancy teams in carrying out financial routines and analyses.
During the apprenticeship, you will study for the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) Professional Accountancy Qualification.
This post is career graded which means that your grade will grow with you as you pass exams and develop in your career.
We are looking for candidates that are educated to degree standard, however consideration will also be given to candidates who have either a minimum of 3 GCSEs (grades A-C) and 2 A-Levels (grade A-C) with subjects including Mathematics and English at either level; or are over 21 and have over 3 years relevant work experience.
You should have excellent numerical, ICT and written communication skills as well as strong inter-personal skills that will enable you to work as part of a team both within Finance and Audit as well as other services in the Council.
This role will be based in Fareham but there will also be the opportunity to carry out work at Portsmouth City Council.
