Education Welfare Officer (1 FT) Fixed term to end of February 2019 Huntingdon and St Ives District Early Help Team is seeking a part a full time Education Welfare Office fixed term initially until the end of February 2019 with the potential of it becoming permanent. The successful candidate will work as part of a multi-disciplinary District team in partnership with local schools, parents and children/young people to secure students regular attendance at school. You will be responsible for liaising with schools to support the regular school attendance of pupils in the district. You will advise schools, undertake case work and take legal action where appropriate. You will work in close partnership with other members of the district team. You will be educated to at least A level standard, have experience of working with children and families and knowledge of data protection and equal opportunities legislation. You will have an understanding of education issues and of the issues that families face and may lead to poor school attendance. You will have excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to support and challenge schools and families as appropriate. You will have the ability to work flexibly and creatively and to produce accurate and concise written reports as well as utilise relevant IT systems. You will have access to your own car as you will be required to travel on a regular basis. An enhanced DBS check is required for this post.
