Caretaker within Heritage Service (Post 07.041)

Part time permanent

Salary - £19,601 per annum (FTE salary £21,175 per annum)

Guildford Borough Council manages and cares for a portfolio of heritage buildings of significant and varying historic interest, protected by listed status within conservation areas. We are currently looking to recruit for a Caretaker working 34.25 hours per week to join our existing facilities team and provide support across all of our seven sites across the borough.

This particular position will see you based at Guildford House in the heart of the town centre. Guildford House is a fascinating 17th century Grade 1 Listed town house located on the High Street. It houses Guildford House Gallery: a changing exhibition space offering a varied programme of art and craft shows, workshops and talks; a craft gift shop; Tourist Information Centre and café, all within a character historic setting. You will be providing a comprehensive range of caretaking duties across the Heritage Services historic sites and buildings. As well as preparing rooms for a range of activities, you will also help with various exhibitions (e.g. hanging or staging exhibits).   You will have demonstrable experience of undertaking caretaking duties, a working knowledge of health and safety and, ideally, an understanding of the constraints of working in and with historic buildings.

You may be looking for a change in career direction and if you are able to work within a team, would like to work in a unique environment and relish a challenge then this position may be for you.

Closing date for applications – Sunday 2nd December 2018

Interviews will be held on the 12th and 13th December 2018
