Apprenticeships with Boston Borough Council

The Councils Apprenticeship program gives you hands-on experience, a salary and the opportunity to train towards a Level 2 qualification while you work. By successfully completing your apprenticeship with Boston Borough Council you will have gained the confidence and skills needed to progress in your career.

Our Apprenticeship programme is ideal first step for anyone who is interested in starting or retraining in a career within Business Administration profession within a real business environment. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, conscientious and self motivated, have good organisational skills, basic computer literacy, an excellent telephone manner and the ability to plan and prioritise effectively to meet deadlines.

We currently have the following apprenticeships available:

  • Land Charges & Licensing
  • Democratic Services
  • Revenues & Benefits
  • People Services & Communications

Our apprenticeships are for a fixed 15 month term and we pay National Minimum Apprenticeship wage (£3.70 per hour – April 2018) for the first 12 months rising to the National Minimum Wage for the remainder of the apprenticeship. All apprenticeships help forge a long term career path and the possibility for higher earnings.

You will need good IT and communication skills, an ability to learn quickly and efficiently & a keen attention to details.

We look for the following personal qualities in our apprentices; a methodical and organised approach to work, accuracy and numerical aptitude, the ability to work on you own initiative, follow instruction and work effectively as part of a team.

GCSE at Grade C/4 in Maths, English and IT above or equivalent is desirable but not essential.

Previous experience is not required but you must be willing to undertake all the required training and development activities. A flexible approach to working hours is required to fulfil this 35 hour contract, to be worked between Monday and Friday each week. There are no age restrictions on our Apprenticeships but they are subject to available funding and approval by our training provider.
