Corporate Procurement is a specialist support team within the Council's Business Management service and is responsible for the delivery and management of key strategic contracts let by the Council.
A consistent approach to commissioning, sourcing and contract management will provide the Council with a resource to successfully commercially manage contracts. Following a recent restructure, we are now looking to recruit 2 Procurement Support Assistants.
These new posts have been created to centralise the role of purchase coordination within the Council's Procurement team. The role will provide full procurement support to the Supply Chain Manager by managing all competitive purchasing activity up to a value of £50k that is both compliant and delivers value for money. This will be completed by using specialist procurement solutions for the provision of online purchasing facilities and eSourcing, therefore proven experience of using electronic systems and Microsoft office (especially Excel) is essential.
The post holder will also need to have good communication and analytical expertise as well as the ability to organise and prioritise daily tasks and workload. The role requires the candidate to have excellent team work skills and the ability to create good working relationships both across the Council and with external suppliers.
