To do this you’ll have a proven record of providing advice and support to residents including those in vulnerable situations, making every contact count and empowering residents to take action to keep warm in their own homes.   You will work proactively with colleagues from within the council and other local agencies and community groups to provide low level case management function where needed to enable independence at home and also facilitate hospital discharges where required. You will also assist clients with the completion of grant applications and supporting papers to help secure better alternatives such as more economical options for home energy and independent living at home. This will involve you helping clients to secure the best deal for their home energy by switching supplies and/or also accessing range of assisted living and warm home opportunities. You will be working in a fast paced environment using your own initiative with an enthusiastic can do attitude, willing to adapt to urgent requests for service from across the borough whilst managing your own workload.

All nessessary traing will be provided but to join us, you’ll need a good understanding of the impacts and needs of people in fuel poverty and cold homes, with a particular understanding of early intervention and ways to address these issues in partnership with residents and other local agencies.   We expect you to have proven experience of undertaking assessments and providing advice to residents in their own homes and achieving measurable outcomes. In this role, your excellent communication skills and effective community engagement will be as important as your skills in undertaking assessments and problem solving. You will be confident using case management systems to maintaining accurate records, dealing with correspondence including first response complaints/enquiries and ensuring residents are given clear and appropriate advice. You have a demonstrable flair for forging working relationships with residents, partners, agencies and members of the local community, and for providing specialist advice and guidance.
