About the Role
This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a pioneering, forward thinking and ambitious organisation, where staff who are positive, innovative, and who make it happen are supported and valued. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join us as an Environmental Health Officer to deliver our food hygiene and safety service.
The role entails proactive inspections and investigations in a variety of food business settings, as well as investigating complaints about food and hygiene of premises, and reports of infectious disease. Public health issues such as public health funerals, drainage problems, accumulations of refuse, and pests in commercial premises will also form part of the caseload.
About the Person
We require a fully qualified (EHORB registered) Environmental Health Officer with food enforcement competence, who ideally has knowledge of a range of environmental health work. You will have strong communication skills and be able to work through challenging situations to achieve positive outcomes.
Enforcement experience would be an advantage, as you will need to collect evidence and prepare reports and cases for formal enforcement. The role will require you to visit sites around the borough to assess conditions and conduct investigations.
You will need to be positive and organised, used to managing your own workload and a variety of demands, while keeping the needs of our customers as a priority. With good IT skills, you will keep records of all work in our database and document management systems, and work flexibly to deliver further improvements and efficiencies to workflow processes.
In exchange for your expertise, experience and enthusiasm, we will offer support in continuing your personal and career development, in addition to providing a wide range of employment linked benefits.
We will provide you with competitive annual leave, and contribute 15% towards the LGPS pension scheme. You will also have access to a range of discounts including annual ‘Better’ leisure centre membership, local and high street stores, and salary sacrifice schemes including a cycle lease scheme.
For an informal discussion about the role, please call Katie Jackson, Environmental Health Manager, on 01737 276309.
We are proud to support the guaranteed interview schemes for those meeting the essential criteria for the role, under the Disability Confident employer scheme for disabled candidates, and the ‘Veteran’s scheme’ for ex-armed forces candidates.
Closing date: 18th November 2018
Interview date: 6th Decemeber 2018
