East Devon is independently recognised as an outstanding place and so it follows that its council must also strive to be outstanding. Everything we do is aimed at ensuring that East Devon is a place that people want to live in, work in, visit and enjoy. Our ambition is to be an outstanding council which works together with local people to create great value services and an outstanding community, economy and environment for East Devon, now and for future generations.
About the role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed person to join our Licensing Team. In this role, you’ll provide advice to clients and the community on licensing matters, process applications and monitor and check compliance with relevant legislation and conditions. You’ll also carry out investigations, prepare prosecution papers and carry out administration of the burial responsibilities relative to the Council’s cemeteries. This role is politically restricted.
You’ll have excellent written and verbal communication skills, great accuracy and attention to detail, as well as the ability to balance the competing demands of a busy workload. You’ll also have proven enforcement experience and/or experience of local government licensing legislation. You will need to be able to occasionally work outside of normal office hours and hold a valid driving licence to enable effective travel throughout the district and attendance at court (reasonable adjustments may be possible according to the Equality Act).
