Trainee Fraud Investigation Officer

The Council is currently entering a period of extensive investment programme of its assets, including masterplan for its historic Town Hall, introduction of house building, and a number of regeneration programmes across the borough.
About the role
You will be joining a lively and dynamic team of fraud investigators to successfully attain a professional qualification, and obtain extensive practical experience.
You will work individually or as part of a team with Senior Investigation Officer and Manager support and guidance.
On a day to day basis, you will work on responses to enquiries on reactive and proactive fraud investigations including those resulting from the National Fraud Initiative and ensure they are completed within agreed timescales.
You will conduct investigations of cases of suspected fraud against the Council, under the direct supervision of a Senior Investigation Officer or Manager, which will include assisting with interviews of suspects and witnesses, helping with the delivery of training sessions and the succession completion of proactive anti-fraud projects. As part of supporting the corporate anti-fraud team, you will also generate and analyse management information and advise on key performance indicators and will have excellent levels of literacy and numeracy.
With supervision and support, you will be able to help to deliver a professional and flexible anti-fraud service to prevent, detect and investigate potential fraud and irregularities perpetrated against the Council whilst obtaining professional qualifications. The Council will fund and fully support you through the training for the professional qualifications.
