We offer £39,270 per annum for 36 hours per week based at one of our 4 office locations in Guildford (South West), Woking (North West), Redhill (South East) & Leatherhead (North East). You will be asked to select your location and team preference on the application form.

About the Role
Surrey County Council has a fantastic opportunity for qualified senior social workers to join one of our frontline teams. We are looking for committed and passionate workers who are interested in the challenges of working in a busy, professional environment.
We will be driving forward improvements in practice by introducing the Family Safeguarding model, an evidenced based approach in improving outcomes for children. This approach has been successfully implemented by Hertfordshire, Luton, Peterborough and West Berkshire, all of which have been rated as good by Ofsted.
You’ll be taking on challenging and rewarding work, assisted by high quality supervision from experienced managers who are committed to making the improvements required to ensure that children and their families receive a good service. There is also a firm commitment to ensuring you have manageable caseloads – allowing you to do the work that you need to do for children.
You will undertake holistic assessments of children and their families’ needs, working with children who are in need or in need of protection and developing and reviewing effective plans. You will also plan with and support children where they cannot safely live in their families, to ensure their life chances are maximised and they meet their full potential.
We are looking to develop area based services which will have multi-disciplinary input. Each location will be made up of the following teams:
- Child in Need
- Child Protection
- Looked after Children
How we will support your development
Supporting your career development is a top priority for us. We have a comprehensive training programme and are looking to develop a workforce wide “Academy”. The Council is invested in training staff in the Family Safeguarding model, Motivational Interviewing, as well as investing in support to develop systems thinking in practice in Surrey. Your development will be supported by regular supervision and appraisal as well as a range of coaching, e learning and other refection and learning opportunities.
To be shortlisted to interview for this position your application will clearly evidence:
- Experience of working within a broad knowledge of social work practice and legislation, including safeguarding.
- An ability to demonstrate excellent assessment and analysis skills.
- Have completed the Assessed and Supported Year of Employment (ASYE)
- HCPC registered
- A Social Work degree
