About the role

Full time / Full year / Permanent

MPS-UPS £28,000 – £43,685 per annum

Starting September 2023

Required from September 2023 a passionate teacher of Mathematics to join a highly effective Maths team striving for excellence.

This is a perfect career opportunity to join a well-established team in a high performing school with a commitment to career development which would be very suitable for an ambitious teacher at the start of their career as well as a more experienced candidate.  The candidate would join the department in an exciting stage of its development following recent curriculum and pedagogical changes which are being embedded and evolved.

All of our staff are lifelong learners and reflective practitioners.  We pride ourselves on giving departments ample time for subject specialist CPD and to allow in depth conversations on Maths Pedagogy to develop better student understanding.

The Maths Department

All of our Maths rooms are equipped with a Promethean board and the department also has priority booking for an ICT suite.  We invest in Hegaty Maths and each department member has mini white boards and a visualiser.  We are also a member of PIXL and SSAT.

Classes are set from Year 7 onwards and sophisticated tracking systems are in place, which tightly monitor the progress of students towards achieving success.  Class sizes are flexible to ensure that all students are given the ideal environment in which to learn and the opportunity to make progress e.g. in Year 11, there are 10 classes for 199 students, so up to 20 students in a class.  We teach our own bespoke 5 year curriculum in line with the national curriculum criteria that is designed to maximise the potential of every student.

The Maths team is very cohesive and staff support each other effectively in a very collaborative environment.  They strive to ensure students achieve both high standards of academic achievement in Maths and also an appreciation of the importance of Maths in the world around them.

Regardless of past levels of success, the striving for excellence never stops.
