Chief Executive
Burnley Borough Council is recognised as a strong and ambitious, highly performing council with loyal and committed employees and excellent partnership working. It punches above its weight and has a reputation for providing excellent services and delivering significant development projects.
These include:
- development and current construction of the new £26m Pioneer Place cinema and leisure complex
- working with the University of Central Lancashire to expand student numbers in Burnley from 200 to 4,000 and create a university town
- acquisition of Burnley’s retail centre, Charter Walk
- securing £20 million of Levelling Up Funding to deliver three major infrastructure projects to create a regeneration corridor across the town centre
The Council has a track record of transforming services through partnership and has a mixed economy of service provision.
Our Chief Executive is retiring this summer and we are seeking an ambitious leader to work alongside elected members and partners. You will continue to oversee service improvements, as well as delivering further significant development opportunities.
Burnley is always in the spotlight and you will need to demonstrate that you are ready to take on this demanding role and have a proven track record as leader with senior management experience within a comparable organisation.
