Missing Children Support Worker
The co-located Exploitation Service have an exciting opportunity to work directly with young people who have gone missing. Upon the return of the young person to either their home or care placement, you will make contact with them to offer a missing return conversation (return home interview). As a service we are seeking to reduce the level of missing episodes and periods for children with a view to reducing the risk of exploitation. You will be working within multi-agency Exploitation Team where we are developing an innovative harm outside the home approach to issues around exploitation, missing and serious youth violence. You will need good people skills and experience of engaging young people effectively. You will have a caring nature and be professionally curious about why a young person has gone missing and the impact of missing on the child(ren). You will be able to work within a team approach and with other professionals and local organisations to identify and address the issues that lead to a young person going missing underpinned by empowering, anti-oppressive, trauma informed and culturally competent practice (training will be provided for this).
