No two days are the same in this role - you will work on a variety of OD projects, such as improving our appraisal, developing our coaching pool or leading the design and delivery of our Leadership Network, a gathering of the top 100 leaders in the organisation. 

Alongside that, you will lead an extremely dedicated and highly skilled team of learning and OD professionals - ensuring our learning and OD activities support our staff to be the best they can be. 

As a member of the HR Leadership Team, you'll have amazing colleagues who will support you as you settle into the role and who you will work with to ensure the HROD service takes a 'One HR' approach to everything we do. 

It's a deeply rewarding role that will give you the autonomy and freedom to really make your mark as an OD and learning leader. 

The main responsibilities for this role are to provide leadership and overall strategic direction to the Learning & OD team. You'll ensure the team functions well operationally and overseeing budgets, supporting customer improvements and ensuring the high-performance of this team of highly skilled workers. 

In addition to this, you will be the organisation's OD expert, supporting our performing through a range of interventions (staff survey, improving people processes, supporting and facilitating the development of our senior leaders).

You will also have a crucial role to play in advancing our vision of being a fair & inclusive employer, contributing to and championing our Fair & Inclusive Action Plan   as well as ensuring the development of training and development initiatives address inequalities.

Our Ideal Candidate

You will have worked have a number of years in a senior L&OD role within a large, complex and/or highly unionised public sector organisation.

Your experience in delivering learning and OD interventions will help you to build credibility as a senior learning & OD leader. You'll be great at forging relationships with a range of stakeholders and be goal oriented, able to move a range of projects along at pace. 

Importantly, you will be a compassionate and visionary leader, able to take the Learning & OD team to the next stage of their performance, building on the strong team dynamics already in place and the highly experienced nature of this team.

Additional information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
