Liverpool City Council are seeking to appoint a Practice Development Officer within Children and Young People’s Services. The post is a fantastic opportunity for the right person to make a real difference to the lives of children, young people and families. Liverpool is undergoing key changes and this and exciting time to join us. As the Practice Development Officer you will work extensively across all areas of Children’s Services to facilitate, enable and embed change.

The Director and senior team are committed to supporting and motivating an experienced, stable and skilled workforce to ensure we deliver excellent services.

We have an established Assessed and Support Year in Employment (ASYE) programme for Newly Qualified Social Workers (NQSWs). This role is responsible for;

  • delivery and co-ordination of varied workshops, supervision, learning opportunities and reviews of this work.
  • case audit and development activity for the whole Children’s workforce as part of a small team.

As a core city Liverpool is responsible for providing placements to both local and national universities. The role will involve supporting both students and practice educators throughout the duration of their placements.

We are looking for an outstanding social worker with previous experience both of working with children and families and in practice development who has the ability to adapt and use practice experience and people skills to identify development needs in others. Candidates should be comfortable with public speaking and have experience of supervising other Social Workers.
