Web Services Officer (Developer)
Location: County Hall (Remote Working)
Contract: 1 Year Fixed Term
Are you an aspiring web/digital development guru looking to get your first step on the job ladder? This is an excellent opportunity to come and learn new skills with our award-winning web team.
Purpose:
This is an entry-level web developer role.
The role holder will support and develop the website using specific, specialist skills.
They may already have demonstrable experience or demonstrate an aptitude to develop and learn them on the job. They will need to use their communication skills to interpret customer and business needs into technical delivery.
Challenges and Opportunities:
The role holder will be working on a variety of microsites and development projects, each with their own user needs and deadlines. There’s plenty of opportunity for them to learn and improve how a large public-focussed website works.
Technical Skills and Qualifications:
We’re looking for the role holder to be able to:
• Define how our web content is presented by making basic / intermediate HTML/CSS changes
• Improve user experience by using Javascript to make components using our React front end.
• Modify our existing web components and create new components to provide new functionality on our website by undertaking basic ASP.net Razor changes.
• Support with Analytics and Tag Manager tasks to ensure engagement is accurately recorded across our web and digital estate
• Provide first line support to users of our content management system, Contensis – delivering support for the helpdesk
• Develop microsites, using both our brand guidelines and working to specifications provided from third party suppliers
• Working on smaller improvement projects – e.g. supporting technical implementation of new sections of the website
We are not expecting the post-holder to be a technical expert in all the above skills. Experience is desirable, but demonstrable technical aptitude and approach is more important as skills can be learnt on the job if needs be.
This is a great role to come and work with passionate, digitally minded people who strive to make Hertfordshire a better place to live or work in on a daily basis.
No day will ever be the same, and you’ll never be bored.
Diversity: We are an inclusive employer and value a diverse workforce
