About the role
Are you an innovative, forward-thinking person who can deliver business reports and data driven insights? An exciting opportunity has become available for a Business Intelligence Developer. This role is for candidates with experience of SQL Reporting and the creation of Business Intelligence (BI).
The role is based in the IT and Digital Information Management Team which sits within Engagement and Digital Innovation. The team leads on the development and delivery of the Information and Data Management Strategy for the Council. You will be working with colleagues with extensive knowledge of the use of BI Tools such as Tableau and Power BI. You will be helping to drive change through improvements in the data literacy culture throughout the authority.
You will be primarily liaising with colleagues in the Inclusion, Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (ISEND) area of the Children’s Services Department. The role provides ongoing support of report development and statutory returns and requires demonstratable experience with Microsoft Visual Studio and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS). Applicants are not expected to have a detailed knowledge of Council services or teams, as a full induction will be provided in both areas

Essentially, we are looking for someone who has:
- An interest in working within a local authority and contributing to the quality of the services provided by the Children’s Services Department and wider authority.
- Enjoying working with colleagues from across the authority and forming effective working relationships.
- Experience and understanding of data management best practice.
- Experience of working with Microsoft SQL Server Databases, strong SQL skills and creating reporting solutions.
- Ability to analyse and interpret data and the confidence to develop creative solutions to complex problems.
- A working knowledge of Tableau and/or Power BI. However, you will be encouraged to develop these skills alongside other team members via shared knowledge and training.
- The ability to work effectively, with a high degree of autonomy if required; and
- The confidence to develop creative solutions to complex problems.

The post is advertised as full time (37 hours over five days a week). However, job-share applications and other flexible working needs will happily be considered. The contractual base for the post is County Hall, Lewes and the post holder will need to work from this location when required. However, ESCC are adopting a hybrid working model to enable staff to be as productive as possible no matter where, when or who they work with. All the necessary hardware will be provided with the role.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
