About the role

Do you want to work in a role that is varied and contributes to development in East Sussex?  If so, then working as a Senior Planning Officer in our Planning Policy and Development Management Team might be for you.

We are looking for a suitable experienced and competent planner, who will deal with development management matters associated with the Council’s own development (for example schools, roads and libraries) and waste management/minerals extraction.  The role is varied, and you will be expected to deal with your own caseload and undertake pre-application advice, consideration of planning applications, site monitoring and support the enforcement function of the team. Additionally, there will be opportunities for you to assist with the policy work relating to the Waste and Minerals Local Plan. 

We are looking for candidates who:

  • Are qualified to degree level in planning
  • Have a good level of knowledge and experience in development management, including dealing with major planning applications
  • Ideally have some knowledge and experience of dealing with waste and minerals matters
  • Are motivated and flexible, and have excellent IT skills
  • Have an ability to meet the travel requirements of the post

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
