What is the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our expanding Criminal Enforcement Team in Portsmouth; you will be helping to investigate and prosecute offenders not only in the City but across Hampshire County.
We are looking for driven individuals who can self-manage and prioritise changing workloads, and join a team that has been nationally recognised as a beacon authority for Criminal Investigations; winning many national awards in recent years for their activity and high profile prosecutions.
The team is responsible for investigating parking related frauds, disabled blue badge offenders, parking scams, abandoned motor vehicles and more. The role holds a broad mixture of activities, from online investigations and report writing to interviewing suspects under caution, on-street suspect interventions and multi-department and agency projects; working with vehicle removal contractors, Civil Enforcement Officers, Police and more; through to attending court hearings and giving evidence.
The team also provides these services to Hampshire County Council, and provide bespoke training and enforcement to several other authorities across the UK so there is always something new to look forward to.
What you’ll need to succeed
The post will ideally suit someone with previous experience of enforcement. You will possesses good administrative and IT skills. You will have a good knowledge of Civil Parking Enforcement and Parking Management Systems.
You will have good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to deal with difficult or challenging behaviour, you will have the ability remain confident and calm when conducting offender interventions and conduct dynamic risk assessments.
You will have excellent IT skills, including the use of databases and Microsoft office suite. You will have experience of preparing detailed written reports and analyse the complexity of alleged criminality against relevant legislature.
You will be able to work flexibly as you will be expected to work outside normal office hours as determined by the criminal investigation, or enforcement operations undertaken; inclusive of early mornings, late evening, weekends, and occasional overnight stays away when participating in external investigation or enforcement operations further afield.
