The Service

The Regeneration Directorate of Portsmouth City Council manages and maintains a multi-million pound property portfolio, which includes Port Solent (a leisure, retail and residential marina complex), industrial sites, retail units, offices, Portsmouth International Port as well as more specialist properties like hotels, supermarkets, golf courses, leisure properties and an agricultural portfolio.

The total asset value is in the region £1billion and the commercial assets generate a net income of over £15 million per annum.

In the Property & Investment Team, our purpose is to manage the non-residential assets cost-effectively and uphold quality relationships with our tenants. All our work is geared towards achieving our purpose.

Your new role

You will work within the Property and Investment Team to provide support to the Property Team, Commercial Property Officers and Graduate Surveyors by assisting in evaluating repair requests on shops, industrial units, offices etc., and taking appropriate action.  You will also assist with identifying land ownership by reference to GIS mapping systems and Land Registry records.

You will also assist in the assessment and formalising of access rights across PCC land as well as meeting, communicating and liaising with customers, contractors, councillors and other stakeholders.  You will also monitor the Commercial Property inbox, and responding to enquiries in a timely and efficient way.

What you'll need to succeed

You will have a good level of knowledge of Maths and English with.  You will also have the ability to interpret hard copy maps and industry standard electronic mapping systems.  You will also have a good working knowledge of Microsoft applications, in particular Excel and Word.

You will have an understanding of when need to ask for help from managers, given the high-profile nature of the property portfolio.  You will also have the ability to communicate basic property information effectively to customers and stakeholders across and outside the organisation both verbally & in writing.
