The SEND Advice Line Lincolnshire Team (Ask SALL) are looking to recruit an advisor to their small, friendly team. 

The Ask SALL Team are responsible for supporting early intervention for pupils with SEND in schools and settings across the County.  As part of the team you will provide up to date, relevant information, advice, guidance, and challenge to SENCOs, SEND Managers and education professionals working in educational settings, including early years, schools and colleges in Lincolnshire. You will help them to navigate Lincolnshire’s Local Offer and identify available universal and targeted support to enable the successful and robust delivery of the graduated approach within their settings for children and young people.

The ability to work under pressure, manage an active caseload, whilst managing conflicting priorities and remain resilient is essential for the role.   A sound knowledge of education legislation including The SEN Code of Practice 2015 is integral to the role.

You will support the drive for better outcomes for children with SEND in Lincolnshire by strengthening a setting’s skills, knowledge and ability to meet children and young people’s needs.  This involves supporting settings to work towards the full inclusion of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities by providing a quick and effective response to setting requiring advice and information. 

As part of the role you will also be a representative on the statutory Education, Health and Care (EHC) needs assessment request panel.  You will deliver outcomes from the panel to parent/carer/young people and educational settings including providing guidance and next steps.

What are we looking for?

  • Someone who has an excellent knowledge of services related to SEND within Lincolnshire’s Local Offer and graduated approach, including those available to early years, schools and colleges and children, young people, parent/carers and families.
  • The ability to communicate effectively by phone, email and in person with a wide range of professionals, other agencies and colleagues from within and beyond Lincolnshire County Council in a solutions focused way.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience of working with children/young people in a health, education or social care setting.
  • You will need excellent interpersonal, customer service and relationship building skills, with the ability to provide advice to educational settings, working in partnership to improved outcomes and aspirations for children/young people with SEND.
  • A working knowledge of SEND legislation, including Education Act 1996, the Children and Families Act 2014, SEN Code Of Practice 2015 and Equality Act 2010.
