Senior Democratic Services Officer
Join Tunbridge Wells Borough Council and make a difference. We are looking for a Senior Democratic Services Officer to work alongside a small supportive team. This role sits at the core of the Council and is instrumental in ensuring local democracy is served.
You will need to be able to build strong working relationships with elected councillors and other stakeholders and be a great team player, able to work autonomously when the role requires. You will have excellent organisation and minute taking skills. Meetings can take place in the evening, on average about one to two times a week.
We will invest and support appropriate personal development. You will be expected to undertake any necessary training to fulfil the role successfully. We offer a mixture of home and office working.
About the role:
- Work with elected members and other stakeholders to organise regular committee meetings and undertake some research for members as required when issues are identified.
- Complete minutes of meetings and decision-making notices.
- Ensure actions agreed in meetings are initiated and followed-up.
- To act as advisor to the Overview Committee, and manage the Council's ‘Call In’ procedures.
- Assist in maintaining the Council's Constitution and Forward Plan.
- Advise Officers, the Public, and Councillors on procedural issues on how formal decisions are made.
- This is a politically restricted post.
About you:
You don't need to have worked in local government up to now. For this role you need to have good reporting writing skills and experience of supporting formal decision making and liaising with a wide-range of stakeholders.
