The role will also involve working at four different councils, including Epping, Harlow, St Albans as well as Broxbourne.
As an Internal Audit Apprentice or Internal Audit Assistant, you will support the team in the delivery of audits across the four councils, in line with the Annual Audit Plan and also any ad-hoc tasks required by the Head of Internal Audit including investigations and supporting project groups. Working with fellow auditors you will undertake a range of financial and non-financial audits, assessing the effectiveness of controls and risk management systems in place and identifying opportunities for improvement in those processes.
For the trainee auditor role, the successful applicant will undertake on the job training for four days per week and college/study activities leading to an AAT Apprentice qualification one day per week during term time. This role may lead to a future permanent post and the opportunity to study for a professional Internal Audit qualification. Applicants should be educated to ‘A’ level standard, ideally with two good ‘A’ levels and must have GCSE passes in Maths and English.
For the assistant auditor role, the successful applicant will already have an AAT qualification, although, those with relevant audit experience will also be considered. The successful applicant will undertake on the job training for four days per week and study activities leading to a Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors (CIIA) Apprentice qualification and may lead to a future permanent post and the opportunity to study for the higher CIIA qualification.
For either role candidates must be hardworking team players with good written and interpersonal skills, excellent attention to detail with the ability to problem solve. They must also have a current valid driving licence and their own transport.
