Assistant Director Housing, Health and Communities

If you have a flair for delivering improvement in a housing setting, you will want to pay
close attention to this opportunity. We are looking for a highly capable and professionally
qualified housing expert to lead on our Housing Strategy and the management of our
housing stock of circa 2,800 homes. It’s a time of change in the service, so as well as your
comprehensive understanding of the current and emerging legal and regulatory framework
for housing, you should also be able to demonstrate how you have led cultural change to
place customers firmly at the heart of the service.

Your recent experience could be in a local authority or housing association setting and
while the primary focus of the role is the delivery of social housing, you will also lead on
other key service areas that include Environmental Health and Community Safety. As the
most senior housing professional in the council, you will report directly into the Chief
Executive and, as well as leading on your own directorate, you will be a full member of the
Corporate Management Team, contributing to the strategic direction of the council overall.
