Deputy Centre Manager/Care Assistant

£17,070 to £18,747 per annum for 27.5 hrs per week (with the potential to increase to 30 hrs per week)

Runnymede Borough Council are looking for a caring and enthusiastic individual to join a small team of committed staff at our Social Centre in New Haw, Addlestone.

As part of this role, you will be expected to support in the provision of a welcoming, vibrant facility for residents from Addlestone and the surrounding area, offering a range of engaging and innovative services and activities to people whilst at the Centre.

You will have previous experience of working with and an understanding of the needs of older people. You will also aid to those visitors accessing the centres facilities and support those requiring additional assistance to enable personal care.  Therefore, it is essential you have well-developed people skills, patience, discretion and the ability to empathise.

In addition, you will deputise for the Centre Manager in their absence and be responsible for the smooth running of the Centre, including managing a team of staff and volunteers. Some experience of managing staff and/or volunteers is required, as is the ability to carry out basic administration tasks.  A good level of IT skill is required.

You will be a flexible and organised team player, able to work on your own initiative and keep calm under pressure.

This role will occasionally involve assisting with providing rest centre facilities in the event of a civil emergency and provide support to other Social Centres across Runnymede and Surrey Heath Borough Councils.

As you will be working with vulnerable adults an enhanced DBS check is required for this role.
