St Albans is set within the Green Belt, off the M25, A1M and M1. The District includes a historic city centre and vibrant villages. Our Council Offices are in the city centre near to the station (London St Pancras 20 minutes), shops and restaurants. As a District we are fortunate to have rich mix of diverse and engaged communities. We are committed to ensuring that all our residents, visitors and staff enjoy everything that we have to offer. This is a great place to live and work.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to build on the success of St Albans’ events programme; creating and delivering large scale events and generating income via the events programme. You will build effective working relationships across all Council services, key partners, the voluntary and community sector and commercial businesses to ensure vibrancy through events in our district and to our local communities, as well as supporting income generation through new ideas and partnerships.

You will work with traders, local businesses and event organisers to ensure their involvement and support of events on council-owned land. You will work with partners to ensure the outcomes of events enhance the prosperity and cohesion of the district, through managing events on council-owned land including Verulamium Park and through delivery of the Council’s events in the city centre including the Alban Street Festival, St Albans Food & Drink Festival and the Christmas Cracker.

You should have experience in event management, with a strong background in curating and delivering outdoor events and an in-depth knowledge of the health & safety considerations required for organising such events. You will be creative, able to identify new and innovative ways to curate and deliver events that help support the strategic ambitions of the council, including commercial income generation and community inclusion in events. You must also be highly organised, able to remain calm under pressure and be able to multi-task while working to strict deadlines.

We offer flexible working arrangements with opportunities to combine home and office working.  Our refurbished offices are in the city centre near to the station (London St Pancras 20 minutes), shops and restaurants.

In addition to working within a great team and a comprehensive salary you will have access to:

  • 27.5 days up to 30.5 days annual leave + bank holidays - pro rata for part time
  • Up to 18.5% employer contributions (Local Government Pension Scheme)
  • Flexible working options (e.g. hybrid and flexitime)
  • Training and career development opportunities
  • Discounted membership at selected local sports and fitness centres
  • Travel discount and welfare support
