Energetic & Innovative Environmental Enforcement Manager Required

Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make up. Brent’s diversity is evident to all who visit our borough and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity has created a place that is truly unique and valued by those who live and work here.

The council is pursuing a far-reaching transformation agenda that better meets the needs of our community so it is an exciting time to join us.

The Post

We are looking for someone with a passion for hard and rewarding work with a focus on using innovation and creativity to drive forward the council's agenda in tackling Environmental Crimes such as illegal rubbish dumping and littering.

Envirocrime in Brent has long been a blight in our borough and we are now saying no more!  It's time to get a grip on people who carelessly flaunt the law when it comes to responsibly disposing of their waste and those who have no care for the environment in general.

The future requires a long term sustainable approach with new powers and resources ready to be re-shaped anew and led in the ongoing fight to make Brent a cleaner, safer and tidier place in which to live and to visit.  A part of a newly formed Neighbourhood Team you will be instrumental in helping to make this happen.

The Person

The ideal candidate for this role will have experience, strengths and a list of achievements in Environmental Enforcement particularly with a waste related focus.  Candidates will also need to demonstrate the ability to tackle ingrained long term issues with creativity and innovation and be prepared to stay the course until the end no matter the demand.

Knowledge and experience of managing uniformed front line patrol officers responsible for issuing fixed penalties will also be an asset.

Closing Date: 25 September 2018

Assessment & Interview Date: TBC
