At the Adelaide in Ryde, people come to stay with us when they need support getting back on their feet, when they need help to return to their lives independently. We provide vital support to people from all over the Island who are being discharged from hospital or trying to avoid admission to hospital. We also support people receiving re-ablement care, resulting in a vibrant mix of activities and challenges in our re-ablement homes.
No two days are the same at the Adelaide, our residents only stay with us for a short time during their journey from hospital to recovery, so it's vital that we recruit Support Workers who embrace change and who can adapt their work to suit each individual using our service. One day you could be supporting with exercise classes, the next you might be enabling socialising or playing board games.
We also want to constantly improve our service and we welcome individuals who want to offer new ideas for activities and working practices.
Our Support Workers need to be kind, thoughtful and patient plus, at the Adelaide you need to be prepared to move around over 3 floors, supporting activities and responding to needs all over the building! You'll be on your feet a lot so you'll definitely get your steps in.

From individuals needing mobility support after an operation, to supporting people with rebuilding their confidence and self-esteem, you and the team will be supporting our short stay residents until they are ready to take their next steps independently (often between 1-3 weeks although this is different for everyone)
· You will ideally have a range of experience in working within care
· You'll need to demonstrate an appropriate level of literacy and numeracy
· A Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care would be an advantage.
Willingness to train is essential, we offer extensive training that will enable you to gain the skills and knowledge you'll need to carry out your role to a high standard, including administering medication. You will be well supported and receive regular structured supervision.
