As a result of internal promotions and to increase capacity in the team, an exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit three highly motivated, enthusiastic and talented individuals looking to start or further their career in Development Management by working as a planning officer and being part of a friendly and supportive team committed to delivering quality development outcomes and excellent customer service.
In this area well placed for communications but with attractive surroundings we offer a high but diverse and rewarding workload. The posts will involve the full range of development management duties such as examining planning and other applications, inspecting sites and negotiating as appropriate in order to ensure good design and quality in development, and dealing with pre-application submissions. As part of the role, you will be making recommendations and preparing reports on development proposals. Dependent upon experience you may deal with planning and enforcement appeals, as well as attend and present at committees.
As part of the requirements for the role, you will be well organised with good communication and presentation skills and have an interest as well in the environment and development issues. A degree in planning or an associated field is required and ideally you will have experience within a Planning department.

This role requires the incumbent to have a car available at work to undertake his/her duties as they will be expected to undertake at least 1500 business miles per year. Essential Car User status attracts a lump sum allowance paid on a monthly basis as well as a free car parking space if he/she works at one of the Council’s corporate buildings.
