We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Strategic Finance Business Partner supporting the Council to deliver its new Council Plan and Barnsley 2030 Strategy.
Working within the Finance Business Unit, the successful applicant will play a pivotal role in ensuring the Council’s Section 151 Officer’s responsibility are fulfilled and that front line services receive an efficient, effective and market leading financial support service.
The Council’s recently adopted People Strategy will act to support the successful candidate to adopt the culture and behaviours of a modern, agile, healthy, engaged, skilled and innovative workforce.
About the role
Working within the Corporate Finance and Business Partnering service, the Strategic Finance Business Partner will form part of the small management team overseeing the delivery of a high performing finance team ensuring that the service and business unit achieves the key priorities set out in its corporate plan and delivers the core strategies adopted by the council.
Reporting to the Head of Corporate Finance and Business Partnering, acting as a direct representative of the Service Director Finance and S151 Officer the Strategic Finance Business Partner Accountant is responsible for leading:
· a comprehensive suite of professional financial management services including professional accountancy services, strategic financial advice,
· the delivery of specialist financial support and local taxation (council tax and business rates).
· the delivery of the Section 151 Officer’s statutory responsibilities in support of the Council’s operating model
The successful candidate will be an intelligent, professional qualified accountant (CCAB) who has enjoyed a progressive career and has outstanding communication skills, a passion for best practice and high calibre influencing skills. You will have demonstrable experience of leading teams to achieve core priorities and outcomes. You will be well informed of and be able to implement changing local and national policy issues and build strong and productive relationships with senior stakeholders including Executive Directors and Members.
