Chelmsford City Council are currently looking to recruit an experienced Allocations Manager to oversee and manage the process for the allocation of accommodation to those in need within our community.

Working within our Housing Services team, the successful applicant, with previous experience of staff management will lead and manage the Housing Allocations function, ensuring the Council’s Housing Register is maintained in accordance with current policies and relevant legislation. They also work to identify supply needs and in coordination with our Planning service and other partners, create proposals for the development of new affordable homes.

The successful applicant will have existing knowledge of local authorities’ statutory duties (Part 6 of the Housing Act) along with knowledge of the role and function of registered providers. Existing knowledge of planning policy and agreements for the development of affordable homes is also ideal.

As part of our accreditation with Essex Family Friendly Employers Charter, this full-time role can be offered on a job share or part-time basis, providing we are able to recruit to the remaining hours.
