This is a rare opportunity to join a small established team running HDC the Training Centre for Hertfordshire County Council. The centre is run as a business, and we are looking for someone with an understanding of high services levels and the ability to be an active and agile member of a small team.
The Training Centre provides rooms for both HCC and external clients to run training, meetings and conferences with rooms accommodating up to 250 people.
This role is primarily to assist the Senior Technical Assistant with A/V and IT problems in the training rooms and when confident in the role to be first line tech support on certain days. Training will be given but basic knowledge is required. The role also includes cross training to learn all aspects of the business from reception to bookings, room sets and customer service.
An example of what would be required would be assisting a trainer with setting up their laptop, an issue with sound that needs resolving or a presentation that won’t run.
There is also equipment maintenance and projects identifying new technologies that may benefit the centre’s income. Training on the bespoke booking system that is the core of the business would be given along with the opportunity to work in all aspects of the centre.
We are not necessarily looking for a qualification but a knowledge of IT would definitely be an advantage, and an interest in computers, A/V and a confidence around them would definitely be a requirement.
Good customer services skills are a must as the successful candidate will be interacting with colleagues, clients and the public on a daily basis.
This post is interesting, challenging and rewarding offering something different everyday. A sense of humour is a must working in a small team where everyone counts.
