An exciting opportunity join the Adults Practice Development Team to lead on the Occupational Therapy (OT) learning and practice development offer. At a time when OT practice plays a key role in the HCC Adult Care Services (ACS) Connected Lives agenda, the role provides an opportunity to continue to drive innovative learning and development solutions to support ongoing improvements in the standard and quality of OT and wider practice within ACS. An opportunity to further broaden your knowledge and perspective and develop a more strategic understanding of OT practice within adult social care.

You’ll be a key member of the Practice Development Team and will support the wider team’s activity, as well as leading the Occupational Therapy learning and development offer and advocating for the L&D needs of the OT regulated workforce within ACS. In this role, you’ll develop learning interventions that underpin the skills, competencies, and experience that the OT workforce needs to deliver positive outcomes around prevention, enablement, and independence.

The role includes developing and facilitating a varied range of learning and development solutions, spanning both OT and wider ACS practice. This includes the core OT learning offer, the Newly Qualified OT programme, OT practice education, and the OT Apprenticeship Programme. There will also be opportunities to be involved in supporting new projects such as the OT Workforce Strategy, and developing the learning offer around enablement, prevention and frailty education.

We are looking for you to have a detailed understanding of the knowledge and skills required to practice as an Occupational Therapist within an adult social care setting. You’ll have good knowledge of the national context, policy, and key legislation relating to both occupational therapy and social care.

You can inspire and lead change with excellent interpersonal skills and are able to impart knowledge to others and present ideas in an engaging way. You have a good understanding of different learning needs and styles and are able to design and implement targeted learning interventions to meet identified needs. You can define clear outcomes and are able to measure and review the effectiveness of L&D interventions, seeking and responding to feedback.

Further Information

You can build strong networks and work collaboratively with peers across the team and wider organisation. Challenging where necessary, to drive innovation in the delivery of services, improve standards and cost effectiveness, and implement best practice.

An excellent career development opportunity to apply your existing OT practice experience to a new role, if this sounds like the opportunity for you, we would love to hear from you!

Interview Date: 18th & 19th January 2023
