Job Details

Post Title: ALP Teacher

Team: Alternative Learning Provision (ALP)

Location: Ashford Spelthorne

Pay Scale: Full time position £24018 - £27815 plus SEN allowance £2106

Surrey County Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  We want to be an inclusive and diverse employer of first choice reflecting the community we serve and particularly welcome applications from all under represented groups.

An enhanced DBS ‘Disclosure and Barring Service’ check for regulated activity (formerly known as CRB) and the Children’s and Adults’ Barred List checks will be required for this role.

About the Role

Are you passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of vulnerable children?

Would you like to work in a friendly, supportive team to reduce the barriers to learning for pupils with SEND?

The role of Teacher within ALP will present an interesting and rewarding opportunity for the right individual to use their knowledge, skills and experience to support young people to learn, when previous provisions have not been successful. The delivery of the curriculum will depend on the readiness of each individual to learn, which allows for a unique approach to delivering a personalised curriculum, designed to meet the specific needs of each young person.

You will work as part of a team to deliver a full time education provision across Surrey to young people with SEN in Key Stage 4. This will involve the delivery of 1:1 and small group teaching of English, maths and PSHE, leading and taking part in engagement activities and supporting the delivery of an accreditation programme. The programme is delivered county wide in a variety of locations which involves driving project vehicles.

You will be a qualified teacher with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You will need to have a sound knowledge of current educational issues and the SEND Code of Practice as well as a clean driving licence and use of a car for business purposes.
