Salary Grade G4: From £24,966 pro rata
33 hours per week (Monday - Friday)
We are seeking a licensing officer to help deliver the Council’s licensing services. These include the various licensing regimes governing the sale and supply of alcohol, the provision of entertainments, late night refreshment, taxis, street trading, gaming, lotteries, sex establishments and other authorisations.
The successful candidate will assist in the delivery of day-to-day activities of the licensing team, be responsible for the processing of licence applications and help applicants, interested parties and other regulatory agencies to achieve appropriate licensing outcomes.
The successful candidate will also help deliver our enforcement activities and, through inspections and investigations, check compliance with the authorisations we issue. This will include some work outside of normal office hours. Where appropriate, the successful candidate will give effect to a range of enforcement options, attend hearings, reviews, give evidence in court and help ensure that our licensing policies and objectives are achieved.
We are looking for candidates with excellent administrative, organisational, and communication skills who can deliver a high-quality, customer-focused service against demanding targets and high work volumes; often of a technical nature.
While two years experience of local authority licensing work is highly desirable, candidates will be flexible, well organised and diligent with excellent IT skills. Similarly, while a relevant professional qualification is also desirable, candidates must be pragmatic, of sound judgement and possess proven abilities commensurate to the requirements of the role.
For an informal discussion about the post, please contact John McNab, Environmental Health Manager, or Shelley Bowman, Principal Licensing Officer on 01252 398855.

As a Disability Confident employer, Rushmoor Borough Council offers an interview to any candidate who meets the essential requirements for the post and indicates they have a disability.
As a member of the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme, Rushmoor welcomes applications from ex-services personnel.
The closing date for the receipt of applications is 23rd September 2018.
Interviews will be held on 2nd October 2018.
