We have an exciting opportunity for a talented, ambitious and dedicated individual to join the West of England Combined Authority (WECA) as the manager of our Adult Education Budget (AEB) funding team. In this new role, you will have a real opportunity to be part of shaping the way that adult education provision is focused and delivered across the West of England Combined Authority area, making sure that it best meets the needs of our residents and employers as we move forwards.
The Adult Education Budget (AEB) is used to fund learning for individuals aged 19+ to help them develop the skills they need for employment and also lead an independent life. The current illustrative WECA AEB budget for the 2019/20 academic year is £17.6m.This role is available due to the devolution of powers and funding for Adult Education which will pass from the Secretary of State for Education to the West of England Combined Authority (WECA).
Working to the Skills People and Growth Manager you will have operational responsibility for all areas of the the day-to-day running of the WECA AEB Funding Team. This role will cover both the implementation of this budget and the ongoing management and administration.
As well as being an experienced manager, who is able to effectively lead and manage staff, you will have an excellent understanding of educational budgets (and the complexities of funding allocations and grant awards) alongside experience of working in a funding environment within a large public-sector organisation or deliverer of education/skills provision.
