Your role in our journey
SLO - Social Care (Adults)
An exciting opportunity has also arisen in the Social Care Legal Team for a qualified solicitor with experience in this challenging area of law.
You will need to provide legal advice, representation and advocacy in all aspects of adult social care law. This will include supporting the Adult Social Care team on the Care Act 2014, the law relating to the Mental Capacity Act 2005 including S21a applications, S16, Re X application and issues concerning deprivations of liberty. An understanding of the changes proposed by the Liberty Protection Safeguards would be beneficial.
Ideally you will have experience in all matters relating to safeguarding, ordinary residence, and deprivation of assets and other funding issues.
You may also be required to deal with Mental Health Act 1983 queries, including applications for displacement of nearest relatives, conditional discharge of patients and S117 funding and support queries.
You should be able to give clear and concise advice and be willing to attend and advise at decision making panels relating to Vulnerable Adults and those transitioning from children's to adult’s services.
What you’ll need
To join us, you’ll either be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or a Legal Executive (CILEx) with a level 6 qualification. You will have relevant specialist experience in your chosen area. You’ll show a commitment to contributing to the achievement of the Council’s priorities and will demonstrate the Council’s values of honesty, teamwork, excellent service, and taking pride in what we do.
