Do you have experience engaging with vulnerable people, supporting integration, working within a multi-agency context and keeping accurate records?

Woking Borough Council is recruiting a Family Coordinator to join our Family Support Team; to support and develop its work with Syrian refugees as per the Government’s Vulnerable Person’s Resettlement (VPR) Scheme. To find out more about the national scheme, click here.

Applicants must be able to speak, read and write in Arabic and English to a professional level and have understanding of the relevant cultural and resettlement issues. They must also have a relevant qualification and/or professional experience in one of the following areas: child or adult social care, safeguarding, health, education, housing, youth work or work with parents.

Strong empathy and communication skills are imperative and the successful candidate will be required to quickly build trust and rapport; helping families to integrate, become independent and move productively forward. Applicants will be passionate, assertive, transparent, flexible, committed to equality of opportunity, highly organised and committed to multi-agency working, with strong skills in assessment and intervention.

Please note that this is a permanent employment contract however the role is funded through project funds associated with the life-cycle of this scheme

 

Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check

As this job involves contact with vulnerable adults and children, successful applicants will be required to obtain a Disclosure Certificate from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). Assistance will be given by the Council and further details will be in the job application pack.
